College Corner

This posting isn’t really about the House System, but rather it is about the amazing opportunities our CCS seniors have ahead of them.  Plus, I know this class of seniors pretty well, and they are not the types to boast or brag on their accomplishments.  So I thought I might “toot their horn” a bit (without using any particular names) to let you know their latest status on college acceptances and scholarship offerings.

So far the 12 CCS seniors have been accepted to the following universities:
1.    Anderson University – in SC
2.    Appalachian State University – in NC
3.    Belmont University (Honors College) – in TN
4.    Berry College – in GA
5.    Case Western Reserve University – in OH
6.    College of Charleston (Honors College) – in SC
7.    Digi Pen Institute of Technology – in WA
8.    Gardner-Webb College – in NC
9.    High Point University – in NC
10. Hillsdale College – in MI
11. Iowa State University – in IA
12. John Brown University – in AR
13. Lee University – in TN
14. Liberty University – in VA
15. Lipscomb University – in TN
16. NC State – in NC
17. Palm Beach Atlantic University – in FL
18. Patrick Henry College – in VA
19. Regent’s University in London
20. Samford University – in AL
21. Seton Hall University – in MD
22. Taylor University – in IN
23. University of South Carolina (Honors College)
24. UNC – Chapel Hill
25. UNC – Charlotte
26. UNC – Wilmington
27. University of Minnesota
28. Western Carolina University
29. Wofford College – in SC

Still waiting to hear back from the following colleges in March:
1.    Belhaven University
2.    Boston University
3.    Cornell University
4.    Davidson College
5.    Emerson College
6.    MIT
7.    Notre Dame University
8.    Regent University
9.    Stanford University
10. The University of the Arts
11. Vanderbilt University
12. Washington University in St. Louis
13. Yale University

On average, each senior applied to a total of 5-6 colleges.  The combined scholarship monies awarded so far is: $1,296,000 (That is the sum from 9 of the 12 students and many are still waiting on additional scholarship offers after interviews, essays, etc. to arrive in March and April.)

I believe only 2 of the 12 have actually made a final decision on which of the options is going to be his/her new home in the Fall, and so there is a lot of excitement and decisions ahead for a majority of the senior class.  I know they all would covet your prayers for discernment and wisdom on the decisions ahead.

Lastly, save the date of Saturday, May 20th at 2pm to come watch the seniors graduate.  We would love to have the whole school turn out to recognize and celebrate this significant milestone in the lives of our seniors. Bring your grammar and logic school aged children so that they can see the goal (and the fruit) they’re working toward!
