The CCS Leadership Council (aka Student Government) is a united group of student leaders dedicated to serving the CCS student body by voicing their desires and improving the overall experience for all students at CCS. In addition, the student leaders meet to bring together and enlighten fellow students in the goals and workings of the school, and to foster school pride, establish school traditions, and unify the school as a whole.
The leaders meet every other Wednesday afternoon, and one of the perks of temporarily having school off campus at Parkwood Baptist Church is that they can meet in a beautiful boardroom with comfortable chairs. Student Body President, Bryson Rose, handed out the meeting agenda and welcomed all the leaders.
Vice President, Jaden Rudolph, supports the President by taking the minutes, tracking expenses, and sharing a devotion. Jaden read from Psalm 119 and reminded the leaders who they are in Christ. He encouraged all the leaders to start each day remembering WHO it is that they are to seek to follow above all else and to desire to put Him first in their thoughts, words, and actions.
Bryson then invited School Spirit Prefect, Olivia Blakey, to come forward to share ideas about the upcoming spirit week -October 1st-5th – and vote on dress up themes for each day and prizes for the Spirit Court.
Other presenters were the House Social Prefects (Weston Cregger for Fides, Tyler Hicks for Audacia, and Callie Mahaley for Sapientia), sharing their plans and dates for upcoming social events for all 7th-12th grades for the first semester.
- Finding Dory Movie Night (hosted by Sapientia) – Sept 22, 6-8:30pm, $5 admission includes pizza
- Country Days Corn Maze – Oct 13, 6:30-10pm, $6 admission
- Fides Den Night – Oct 27, 7-10pm, $5 admission
- Christmas Ball (hosted by Audacia) – Dec 1, 7-11pm, $10 admission
Then the House Service Prefects (Sydney Himpel for Audacia, Andrew Faircloth for Sapientia, and Lauren Jones for Fides) presented the proposed service projects for the semester.

The CCS House System
With the desire to bring awareness and intentionality of focus to Covenant Classical School’s core values, the CCS House System was established.
The CCS House System provides leadership opportunities for our Upper School students. Each of the three distinct houses (Fides, Sapientia, and Audacia) is run by a House President and two House Prefects (Social and Service) who encourage involvement in community service, academics, athletics, and CCS social events. Giving incentives for excellence in academics and character, the House system is also intended to be a fun exercise and expression of school spirit.
The first House meetings of the year were held last week. Much of the time was spent educating the new inductees on their House motto, core values, mascot, colors, committees and point system. Each House also incorporated some fun ice breakers, reviewed their House chant, and brainstormed on ideas to finish 1st quarter strong.
House Audacia – led by House President Michael Merrill
House Fides – led by House President Jonathan Haycox
House Sapientia – led by House President Erin Davis
The Bible verse for all CCS leaders is 1 Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
We are off to a great school year!
