Christmas Spirit Week 2020

The pandemic was not going to stop the Christmas spirit at CCS. In fact we had a fun filled week of celebration. Below are some pictures of the fun and festivities.

The tradition of door decorating for a class competition continued. The creativity of each class is always fun to see, as is their ability to coordinate and communicate with each other to accomplish the task in a short amount of time.

Gingerbread House Contest

Traditionally a House competition, this year we turned the gingerbread house competition into a class/grade competition. Each grade was given the same box of pre-made gingerbread house parts and then the students were to bring in the additional “sweet” items to craft a “masterpiece”!

The 9th grades chose to go with a math themed gingerbread house.

The Junior class made a car for their gingerbread man to travel in style!

The 8th grade house had so many details. The 8th graders worked diligently making stained glass windows for their house.

Serving with Samaritan’s Purse

Serving at the Operation Christmas Child shoebox processing center in Charlotte is one of our most loved Upper School service events! This year was no exception. Over 50 members of our CCS community volunteered to help process shoeboxes.

Pumpkin Carving Fun

During their most recent House meeting, each House was given three pumpkins to carve! They planned ahead, came prepared, and had tons of fun working together!

The categories were: Most House Spirit, Funniest, Most Creative.

First the leaders cleaned out the pumpkins to save time for carving and decorating!

Once the pumpkins were all cleaned out, the fun began. Each House was given some basic supplies and a large outdoor shelter to work under!

Where Bilbo Resides

Seventh grade is the beginning of many things at CCS. The change from Grammar School to Logic School brings challenges, growth, new teachers, and new adventures! During this journey they dive into the masterpieces that are The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien is considered one of the masters of Christian fiction and one of the greatest authors of all time.

This past week the 7th graders completed and presented their version of the ever famous, Bilbo Baggins’s, home in the shire.

Changing of the Guard

This year we are piloting a change to our Student Government. Instead of having one Student Body President for the duration of the school year, each House Captain is leading the student body for one quarter.

Our first quarter Student Body President was House Fides Captain Maggie Faircloth! Maggie did an excellent job leading our student body doing this unprecedented year. Maggie encouraged her fellow leaders and peers with enthusiasm and strength!

At the end of first quarter it was time for Maggie to step down and hand the job of SG President over to our next Captain! Per our CCS tradition, Maggie signed our CCS sword!

Welcome to our Second quarter Student Body President is House Audacia Captain, Anna Cooper!

This is Anna’s first year in leadership, and she kicked it off by leading her House Audacia to the first quarter win! Anna is focused, driven, and full of love for our CCS student body!
