Warrior Camp at the White Water Center 2022

At the beginning of the year, we kick off our first semester with WARRIOR CAMP!  It is a great time to make new friends, strengthen existing friendships, learn to work together as a House, and to fellowship with classmates. Warrior Camp was held at the US National Whitewater Center where each House was broken into groups to compete in an Adventure Race!

After everyone checked in, they gathered under the tent to receive instructions and safety training to prepare for the events of the day.

Every house then gathered together to form teams and prepare to begin the race. The teams worked together to form a plan on how to fit in the most activities to earn points for their houses.

LET THE ADVENTURES BEGIN!

Teams earned points for their Houses by completing as many of the activities listed on their scorecard.  Activities included the climbing wall, mountain biking, obstacle courses, zip-line, paddle boarding and more.

Once the race was over, everyone gathered under the tent to have lunch together…

After lunch, we spent the afternoon whitewater rafting!

It was a fun filled day; thank you to all of the parents and Advisors who worked to make Warrior Camp a success!

House Inductions 2022

The first day of school was spent in a Foundations seminar filled with informative speakers, review of the CCS Honor Code and handbook, reminders about the dress code, etc. and recognition of our Seniors. Before the students were dismissed, the new students participated in the House Induction Ceremony.

The House leaders and advisors came forward to introduce themselves and share their House fable of origin. (You can read about each House by clicking “House Descriptions” in the black menu bar above. That assumes you are on the blog http://covenantclassicalhouseblog.org/and not reading this via email.)

Jack Henry read Audacia’s House Fable and Christian Coan read Constantia’s

Andrew Lechner read Fides’s House Fable and Levi Richardson and Tyler Ramsden shared in the reading of Sapientia’s.

LET THE INDUCTIONS BEGIN!

House Inductions are always an exciting time with rising seventh graders and new students anxiously awaiting the announcement to what house they will belong.

All the students gathered in their Houses forming either a circle or tunnel in which to receive their new inductee, while the new students sat in their chairs waiting for their names to be called to come forward. Each house was excited to see who would be joining them and received their new members with great enthusiasm and House spirit.

After the inductions were complete, we played a game called Apple/Orange/Banana where each house formed a closed circle and when Mrs. Hudson announced “Apple”, everyone hopped forward / “Orange”, everyone hopped backward / “Banana”, everyone turned the other direction.

The houses were complete, fun was already beginning and everyone looked forward to getting to know their new House family members better over the coming year.

SG and House Leadership Retreat

Committed to preparing your leaders for the upcoming school year, CCS hosted an all day student leadership retreat on August 12th at Lake Tillery. Jack Henry, our Student Body President, kicked off the meeting with prayer. After going over some communication expectations with Jack, the leaders played a quick icebreaker game to get to know one another.

What do you liike / not like? Each team member wrote down something he/she liked and something he/she did not like on pieces of paper that were then put into a basket. Each member drew out a piece of paper to read aloud and guessed who wrote what.

Leaders then had to put team work and problem solving skills into practice by standing in groups on a towel and turning it over without stepping off the towel.

After their meeting, your CCS leaders took some time to complete the Wall of Leaders posters, generously provided by House Audacia!

Before lunch, leaders participated in a Twister Game with the condiments: ketchup, mustard, mayo and relish being added to the twister circles to make it even more challenging and….shall we say….gross!

The rest of the afternoon was spent having fun on the lake…swimming, wrestling, jumping, kayaking and paddle boarding.

Your leaders are ready for an awesome 2022-2023 school year!
