Warrior Camp at the Whitewater Center

Each year we kick off our first semester with Warrior Camp! This year Warrior Camp was held at the US National Whitewater Center. Each House was broken into groups to compete in an Adventure Race! After the race was complete, we all had lunch together and then spent the afternoon whitewater rafting!

Groups gather as we prepare to begin the race! Once everyone was checked in and given instructions- the race was underway! Some of the activities in the race included: the climbing wall, multiple ropes courses, whitewater solo, bike riding, and more!

Once the race was over and everyone had lunch, the rafting began!

It was a fun filled day; thank you to all of the parents and Advisors who worked to make Warrior Camp a success!

Please excuse the extreme tardiness of this, and other posts to come! Be on the lookout for more pictures and details from first semester at CCS!

Fall Games 2021

As in previous years, the 7th Annual Fall House Games Competition was fierce but filled with silly games, laughter, and great sportsmanship. Honestly we were all just grateful that the Fall Games had returned, since Covid had knocked out the Games in the fall of 2020.

For each game, the House leaders had to strategically determine which members should participate based on the skills needed or the willingness of the members to do some of the crazier activities. Each game had the 1st place winner receiving 1 point, 2nd place winner receiving 2pts, 3rd place winner receiving 3pts, and 4th place winner receiving 4pts. In the case of a tie, both houses receive the same points. The “Ultimate Winner of the Fall House Games” was the House with the lowest number of points.

Throughout the afternoon the points were close between the four Houses, but at the end of the day, House Fides was announced the winner, with House Constantia close behind in second place.

1st place – Fides with 13 points

2nd place – Constantia with 14 points

3rd place – Sapientia with 21 points

4th place – Audacia with 23 points

Games played and the results of each:

Foundations Day and House Inductions 2021

We started the day with worship.

Then Mrs. Russell recognized our seniors.

We played a few group games.

Then we introduced our new House leaders and they read their house fable.

We inducted our 7th grade students, as well as any new and returning students, into one of the 4 Houses .

Then we played a game called “Eat One, Throw One, Balance One” with the House Captains and Prefects.

The House Captains competed while the prefects were there to advise and aide them. They were given a cube of Jell-O, a pretzel stick, and a granola bar.

The object of the game was to figure out which item they were going to eat, which would be best to throw a distance, and which one would balance the best on the pole – all in the fastest amount of time.

It was such a fun day!!

2021-2022 Leadership Retreat

Committed to training up tomorrow’s leaders, CCS hosted an all day student leadership retreat on August 13th at Lake Tillery.

Parker Rose, our current Student Body President, kicked the meeting of with a prayer and lead everyone in the SG pledge. After going over some communication expectations with Parker, the leaders played a quick icebreaker game to get to know one another.

How many sheets of toilet paper would you take for the day? Each leader was told that the plumbing at the Hudson lake house was suspect, along with the toilet paper supply. They had to take all of the toilet paper they may need for the day. Later on they had to share a fact about themselves for each sheet of TP. We learned the most about Mrs. Trapp!

After their meeting, your CCS leaders took some time to complete the Wall of Leaders posters, generously provided by House Audacia!

The afternoon was a time of fellowship and memory making on the lake! The CCS leaders laughed a lot, swam, jumped, kayaked, paddle boarded, and even took their chances on the rope swing!

You leaders are ready to jump into the 2021 school year!

Special thanks to Mrs. Gromis and Mrs. Trapp for chaperoning!

Announcing the CCS House Leadership team for the 2021-22 school year.

We have an amazing group of leaders for our 2021-2022 school year! House leaders went through an application and interview process back in the spring. They were each interviewed by a panel made up of their House Advisors and a member of the Admin team. Class representatives were chosen by their classmates by ballot. Each class representative submitted an application and gave a speech in front of their classmates. We are so blessed to have all of these leaders serving our school!

For this school year the roles and responsibilities of Student Body President and VP have been transferred to the 4 House Presidents. Our two House Presidents, who are seniors, will serve as Student Body President for one semester each. The two House Presidents, who are juniors, will each serve as VP for one semester.
