4th quarter was full of fun and fellowship! Please see our past blogs with details on many of the 4th quarter events and activities.

In 4th Qtr- the House with the most Core Values was- House Audacia

The House with the most Spirit was- House Fides

The House that was awarded the most End of Year awards was- House Sapientia

The House that won the Shelter Naming contest was – House Constantia

Overall House Sapientia had the most Service Hours, which helped them claim the victory for 4th Quarter!!!! Congratulations House SAPIENTIA!!!

House Sapientia 3018 pts

House Audacia 2848 pts

House Fides 2426 pts

House Constantia 2144 pts

Now for the 2020-21 Covenant Cup Winner…

The CCS Covenant Cup winner is determined a bit differently than the quarter winners.  It is not a sum of points accumulated over each quarter that determines the winner, but rather the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th placement that each House has in the quarters as well as the placement in the Fall and Spring House Games.  It is not only important to try to secure some 1st place wins, but equally important is to not place 3rd or 4th in any of the qtrs.

Audacia Constantia Fides Sapientia
1st Qtr 1 4 2 3
2nd Qtr 3 1 2 4
Fall Games/ Grades 4 2 1 2
3rd Qtr 1 4 2 3
4th Qtr 2 4 3 1
Spring Games 2 3 1 4
13 18 11 17

As you can see from the chart above, to win the Covenant Cup a House does not have to win each quarter, but it needs to have the least 3rd and 4th place finishes each quarter and therefore the 2020-21 Covenant Cup Winner is…HOUSE FIDES!

The Fides flag will fly and their crest will be framed and hung in the lobby for all of the 2021-22 school year until the next Covenant Cup winner is determined.

Spring Games

(Please forgive the lateness of this post. I am so sorry this should have been posted three months ago #seniormama)

The Spring House Games (aka Upper School field day) are an exciting display of House and School Spirit.  The students came ready to compete and have fun.

The day began with a little House Spirit! House Constantia’s banner won the competition.

Each house met in their home rooms to strategize for the day and prepare for the House Chant competition.

Ice water army men- one member from each House raced to see who could retrieve the most army men from the ice water, using only their feet!

Spaghetti-o spelling was a race to see who could spell CCS Warriors first!

Charriot races in the gym are always a fun favorite!

Everyone loves watermelon on a warm sunny day, right? One student from each team raced to eat their slice of watermelon first!

The only thing better than racing to eat watermelon is racing to eat PICKLES!!

It was an exciting day of games, laughter, and competition!

The competition was so close that the it came down to a one point difference between first and second place!!

First Place – House Fides -94 points

Second Place- House Audacia- 95 points

Third Place- House Constantia- 108 points

Fourth Place- House Sapientia-113 points

Changing of the Guard and the last SG meeting for 2020-2021

This year we are piloting a change to our Student Government. Instead of having one Student Body President for the duration of the school year, each House Captain is leading the student body for one quarter.

Our fourth quarter Student Body President was House Constantia Captain, Ryan Gasparrini!

At the end of fourth quarter it was time for Ryan to hand the job of SG President over to our next group of leaders. Per our CCS tradition, Ryan signed our CCS sword! Ryan will be attending Lee University in the fall and will be missed greatly.

Three of four of the 2021-2022 leaders were able to join us for our final SG meeting of the school year! The current and new leaders worked together on a problem solving race!

House Meetings, Service, and Chapels

Fourth quarter was full of House meetings and Thursday Chapels! Everyone was grateful that we were able to meet together in the gym!

House Audacia worked on Birthday Boxes for Cabarrus County Meals on Wheels, House Fides hosted a few games of kickball and gaga ball for the 4th graders, House Sapientia blessed the faculty and staff with sweet notes of encouragement, and House Constantia served by doing a little deep cleaning around the Upper School.

Each House had two meetings to craft a banner to be judged and displayed during Spring Games

At the end of March, the Student Government hosted a student led chapel. Student Body President Ryan Gasparrini acted as our host and MC. Lee Williamsen and Annabella Dancy led us in worship, and Parker Rose led a devotion about the sin of partiality. Anna Cooper spoke to the Upper School about her experience in leadership and then we played some games! It was so wonderful to gather together!

Please excuse the blurriness of these photos- I wish we had better pictures.

The following two weeks we had Senior Chapels during the Thursday chapel time. The seniors played games, answered questions from the student body, and gave speeches thanking their CCS community.

Special thanks to Mr. Morton for leading the Senior Chapel.

Sapientia Water Fun and Bible Drive

In May, House Sapientia hosted an outdoor water day full of fun and games!

House Sapientia Social Prefect, Rachel Strader, planned a day full of fellowship, fun, and laughter!

During 4th quarter House Sapientia Service Prefect, Parker Rose, organized a school wide Bible Drive. House Sapientia was able to collect 312 Bibles, which were donated to Harvest Seeds Ministry, who aims to provide the printed “Seeds of the Gospel to the ends of the Earth!”

Well done House Sapientia!
