See You at the Pole 2019

On September 25th, students, faculty, and family members gathered around our flag pole to pray for our nation, school, and families. A hymn was sung and our Student Body President led us in a time of prayer.

What a privilege to start our day in prayer! And to be at a school that desires to give God the glory in all we do!

Fall Dance 2019

House Audacia kicked off our first social event of the year with cowboy boots and a country flair! The dance was at Shoaf’s Wagon Wheel in Salisbury, a real line dancing venue! It was full of character and old time charm. House Audacia even provided a dance instructor, Dennis Ritchie, to teach us some new moves! Everyone was a little timid at first, but quickly got into the spirit and had an awesome evening full of learning, dancing, and laughter!

Mr. Ritchie taught the guys and the gals how to be good partners!

Even the chaperones enjoyed the dancing!

House Audacia- we all agree that this dance needs to become an annual event!

Service Chapel

For Chapel last Thursday the Houses chose ways to serve! House Audacia served local children in the hospital, by creating handmade cards for them.

House Constantia served the campers from Camp Joy, by writing each camper personalized letters!

House Fides served the school faculty and staff by deep cleaning several rooms!

House Sapentia served our first responders and new military recruits by writing them letters through Operation Gratitude!

Every month, the Houses will be able to spend one of their Chapel times serving in whatever way they decide as a House, under the direction of each House Service Prefect. SERVICE is a form of WORSHIP! Grateful to God that we go to a school that allows its students to worship through serving.

Clubs and House Meetings

On Tuesdays after lunch our Upper School students can be found in a club meeting or a House meeting, depending on the week. Every Upper School student has picked a club to join! The clubs are in full swing and have already met twice!

Our Club Leaders this year are:

Jordan Davis -Anatomy and Physiology

Lee Williamsen – Music Club

Wesley Russell and Lauren Jones – Board Gaming Club

Ryan Gasparrini – S.A.B.M.

Sydney Himpel – G.L.O.W.

Maggie Faircloth – Knitting Club

Jonathan Haycox – The RPG Club

On the weeks that the clubs are not meeting, the Upper School students are busy in their House meetings.

Besides reviewing the SG constitution and other business, the leaders participated in a leadership assessment quiz to learn who is a “Doer, Mover, Relator, or Thinker” and worked on problem solving skills via the “Human Knot” game.

The next week the leaders were treated to a day at the Hudson’s lake house for more planning and lots more fun!

During our Foundations day (the first official day of school), Mrs. Thigpen and Mrs. Haycox honored the leaders with a special leadership ceremony. Each Student Government leader was given a lapel pin of a knight and the Bible verse Ephesians 6:11.

Next Mrs. Thigpen and Mrs. Haycox introduced and pinned the new leaders for each House with a special and unique pin in the shape of their House mascot.
